Takrut
Takrut
A Takrut is a tubular amulet that is made of rolled, thin metal sheeting that has been inscribed with sacred symbols by the monk who made it. It is usually sealed after the inscriptions have been added and most often worn by Thai men on a waistcord for protection against danger.
These amulets are popular with soldiers and police officers who face grave danger, but can be worn by anyone.
There is a local superstition that once a Takrut is sealed, it should never be unrolled and could result in blindness if one were to do so.
